Intro... and I thought for a while what to put here about me. :) What do you wanna know? I am just a simple guy working in an IT Company handling Operations and Project Management. I'm also going through a torturous 16 months "express" double degree course at Kaplan APMI - Murdoch University. In this blog, you will basically find alot of nonsense from me.

I like to complain and yes I complain alot but for things that are not right. If you know me well enough then you will know that I always complain for a reason :D otherwise I am just like any quiet guy next door starring at the laptop screen.

This blog details my daily experiences as well as my training for my runs. I have taken an interest in running since last year and I am working towards completing a Marathon this year... Do feel free to comment or message me I will definitely reply and if you need to email me, feel free to drop your emails to terencetkp@gmail.com!

//bloody day
i was woken up at 7am this morning by a loud bang on my door. I quickly opened it to find my mum with lotsa blood in her mouth. It frightened the hell out of me and I wasn't sure what to do. Last night she just gotten a gum treatment on the right side of her mouth and it appears that the bleeding didn't stop. There was a piece of thing dropping from her mouth and it was all covered with blood! I was extremely worried and quickly called the clinic but it wasn't opened. I ran downstairs to see if the nurses has arrived but the clinic remains shut. I'm not sure what to do and I felt like I was in a lost! I'm very upset to see my mum like that and I kept asking her if she's having any pain or what but she said no.. only the blood and the thing dangling from her mouth.

Finally I managed to get the clinic and told the staff about it and that I want to come down now to see the dentist. She said the dentist has yet to arrive and she will call him to check with him. After which she called to tell me that the bleeding was normal. As I was abit anxious at that moment, I almost literally scolded her after she gave me a reply like "I have a patient now who is also in a hurry.." I told her look what is then considered urgent? There is so much blood and I am not sure what to do. Do you wan me to send her to the A & E? As I couldn't wait anymore, I just told my mum to get changed and to go to the clinic with me. As I was on my way down, she called and told me that I have to wait. I said to her that "Look I don't care whether if I have to wait but I am coming down now. I was the one who brought my mum to do her gum treatment and now she's suffering like that I am feeling terrible about it."

When I was down at the clinic, we had to wait a while for the dentist to arrive and he only started seeing my mum at 8.30am. I must admit first that the dentist is really a very nice person. I have seen him for several of my extractions and I know the way he do things. He saw her and said that those were blood clot and that he can remove and said that the bleeding is normal for gum treatment. He cleaned away the blood and examined her gums and said that the bleeding is coming only from one particular tooth. He then told my mum to bite onto the gauzes provided and not to drink any hot stuff. I was relieved to know that the piece of thing wasn't her gum or something or else I would have felt miserable for the rest of my life.

After going back home, It was soon my turn to go down for the dental appointment. Initiatlly I had wanted to cancel it but I eventually went for it. I had decided to take an urgent leave to stay with my mum at home. After my polishing and scaling and cleaning of my teeth, I returned home to take a nap. At this point, mum was still ok but when I woke up around 2pm, she told me that she started bleeding again and it looks terrible! I called the clinic and asked and the dentist spoke to me personally and guided me on how to stop the bleeding. However at 3pm she was pretty worried and I called the clinic again to say if I could bring her down to see the dentist again to just assure my mum. At 3.30, we were down and this time he decided to give her a jab on her gum to store the bleeding. He explained to me that he didn't want to give her the jab and was reluctant to do so because of her past medical history but as she was looking so worried, he decided to do it. I can understand where he is coming from and that the bleeding is actually normal, but for a normal human being, especially for my mum who is old, its hard for her to see her own mouth with so much blood in it.

Finally after the jab the bleeding stopped after 5pm and I felt relieved. Sad to say but I love my mum dearly. I'm already in my mid twenties and of course she is no longer young. It has become my responsibility to look after her and care for her as my siblings started moving out one by one. She's the closest person to me now and I can't let anything happen to her and that explains about my worries for my mum.

I skipped I-Run today as well to stay home but went out around 7pm after checking on her several times to find that the bleeding has stopped. I already have a movie booking for Hancock with my class mates and I can't afford to say that I am not going as I was the one who booked the tickets. After checking and checking, I left home but made two separate calls home to check on my mum, one before the movie and another after the movie. The dentist called me before my movie personally to check on my mum's condition and I was grateful that he called. I felt relieved after going home and seeing that she is fast asleep with no more complains. It has been an eventful day for me today, and tiring as well.

I hope I won't skip I-Run again this Thursday. I also pray hard that everything will be fine tomorrow morning. I have decided to wake up to buy porridge for mum before she goes to my brother's place, and thus I will be sleeping early today after checking on a few emails from my clients.

That should be all. I'm still in a pretty unstable mood as I am worried about my mum. Its hard for me to explain. I don't think I will force her to go for another gum treatment again although she really needs it as her gum condition is deteriorating.

//run away run away
ahhh I feel like i am running out of time everyday. time really flies so fast and now its another brand new week.

I spent the whole of last week working, getting rushed by some project manager from some big company to do this and that, write minutes, write specs, write this, write that.. omg and wasted alot of my precious time to do those things for her.. sigh.

I was also busy with I-Run :P and surfing SGRunners wahahhaha (that's where the other 50% went to..) On Thursday, 10/07/2008 I went for my second Session of I-Run and this time I decided to take the 7km route. Quincy came for a while and left because he has forgotten to bring his running shorts. I had also spent some time to help the I-Run team to take pictures although my skills weren't that great. At the start of the run, all the 7km people were stationed in front and I was told to follow the pack as I wasn't sure of the route. It was ok at first although I know I was going at quite a pretty fast pace.. but I slowly started to slow down a little but try to keep up with my pace but eventually I have lost the group and had to slow down to wait for the people behind me to lead me on before I could catch up again.. or at least run faster again.. by then I was already feeling pretty exhausted but kept pushing and pushing and this time round, I was wearing my Heart Rate Monitor and it showed that I was only using 150 of my max heart rate.. was too far from my Maximum of 190+ but I didn't really let that bother me so much.. I just kept going till i reach the finishing point. 34 Minutes for 7km! My Best Performance so far and I hope I can keep up with it.

As for my Garmin, I'm really loving it, especially when I am able to track my pace, distance, speed and heart rate. The map shown on Sports Track is as follows:

On Friday, it was party day as my group of friends, colleagues and unknown friends went down to St James Dragonfly for a Friday Night Out. It was fun.. but the music was too loud that I was practically deaf the following day :(. We partied till 4am though :P.

On Saturday I had to go School and I was already half dead by then.. and when I was back home, I spent some time to work on Research Assignment 5 before taking a short nap as I had wanted to do a 10km run, but yeah naps are really a good excuse to not exercise. I slept till the very next day! and before I knew it, I was already out and on my way to office to work with my accountant till 11.30pm and so another day has gone and today is Monday as I am writing this entry. I am supposed to meet Valda for a run but she last minute had to postponed it so yeah I'm cool. I was also supposed to go to the dentist with my mum for her to do her gum treatment and tomorrow is my turn to do polishing and scaling. $$$

Tomorrow will be another I-Run and hopefully I can improve on my timing again. Gonna be sleeping real soon after doing abit more work. AHM coming soon and I have yet to hit a 15km. The last was only 12km. Oh man I am really very far from my training!

//I-Run
I couldn't sleep last night as I was having rashes all over my body. It was terrible and at 3.50am, I was still scratching all due to the rashes. Woke up late and eventually reached office late AGAIN! Its not the first time this week and last week already. I really need to have some discipline to sleep early and wake up early to go work!

Ok sleeping aside, today I left office around 5.30pm to join the I-Run, a running initiative by the Health Promotion Board to promote running in the CBD Area. Supposed to meet up with Sean Tan at 6.10pm so leaving at 5.30 was a just nice enough timing. I reached there not knowing what to do.. went to the registration counter to sign up and indicated that I want to do a 7km route but ended up doing the 5km one as I had wanted to familiarise myself with the route first.

It was a great run with lotsa fun. I'd completed the run in 28minutes and had learnt alot of new techniques for stretching my muscles before and after the run. I have decided that I will always make it a point to attend the I-Run running sessions every tuesday and thursday and to perhaps do a 5km and 7km alternate runs. I also said hi to fellow sg runners like cokiee, Dream, DO, Broken, Ayin and Quincy.

I went for dinner with Sean after the dinner and we chatted almost about everyone in Orion. Come to think about it.. I do miss the good old times and when I was back home msning Lt Nick.. he said why not we organised an Orion Run? WAHAHA I wonder how the attendance will be like :P

As for now.. its home work time! Another submission for ICT 265 tomorrow before starting the Security Plan Assignment.. oh dear :(

//Long Post AHead!
Ahh It has been a few weeks since I last blogged. I have been busy playing catch up with school work and work. Its either staying back after work in the weekdays or going back to the office in the weekend or going to school. I don't seems to have much of a life these days.. and people are saying that I am spending too much time in the office. Yes I got to admit that office is now like my second home :)

I guess this is gonna be another long entry as I will be blogging about three runs and two home works and one user training.

I was busy from the 25th to 27th of June as I have to conduct trainings and system walk throughs to a group of 80 or so participants. First day was pretty bad as the system had some bugs and I had some problems with the one managing the project from that organization. Basically my role is the project manager for my company for that project whereas on their side, they have one as well to do all the necessary coordinating, and so we initially had some problems with each other because of some issues that I don't think I wanna talk about it here but I guess everything seems to be ok now after I found out an effective way of dealing with her :P.

On the 30th, I basically went back to office but prior to that I met up with the Orion guys as they went for a paintball session. They were having prata while I had my share of Ice Milo after which Sham dropped me off at AMK Hub as I was heading back towards office. Stayed in office till around 9plus before I went back home for a run. I did the normal 5.2km run but at a faster pace after I was chased by some youngster.. but eventually i used him as a pacer and eventually caught up with him, over took him and he lost me as I head back home. :) Good Run!

On the 1st of July, Sean asked me out for a run with him. Basically he has not been running for ages and told me to join him for a run. As he stayed at Pasir Ris, I told him to wait for me at his place while I run to his place to meet him and to do a 3km run around his estate with him before I head back home. The whole run was pretty smooth and enjoyable as he asked me how I had managed to run to such a condition (cos I was a PES E clerk in army last time and was pretty weak and he was my sgt last time and was pretty fit). I shared abit of what I know about running with him before I said good bye and headed home. When I reached Tampines, I told myself to do abit more as I was still not so tired and so I continued a new route and eventually completed the run at around 12km. The running route is below:

After the 12km run.. I rested for a couple of days before I did another run again and for that run.. I had totally forgotten about the date! See that's the problem with joining too many races! I kept thinking that MILK Run is on the 20th of July till i collected the race kit on Friday and checked the web site to realise that the run is actually on the 6th of July and so I didn't do any run for that few days before MILK. On the day itself, I woke up pretty early to drink water, have a good breakfast and to prepare myself for the race that day at 3pm. The flag off timing for 9.4km competitive was 3.15 and so I left my house at around 1pm to catch the shuttle buses that picked participants up from Outram to the start location. This is also the first time that I am using my Garmin ForeRunner 305 after waiting for its shipment from Amazon and Subsequently VPost.

The run was pretty enjoyable. Each Participant was issued with a Yellow running t-shirt which I thought was pretty nice but for a race like that, I had preferred to use my running top and shorts. The host for the event was pretty funny too as I stood in the starting point with one of the sgrunner member. The run started with a bit of bump here and there but was pretty alright. I had a slight headache during the run but persevered on and managed to complete the 9.4km. Alot of people eventually overtook me but I thought that it was still a good run as I had enjoyed it. I almost did an additional loop as the signs for the loop were misleading and thus I had wasted a few minutes running part of the "extra" loop and the total distance reflected on my garmin was around 8.7km.

Well that should be all ba. I should be joining a CBD Run tomorrow :) and besides that I have to spend some time to do my home work le! Sorry for the lengthy update! Still got other things I wanna put in but shall make it the next post like my Garmin Review and my MILK Run Tag :P
