Intro... and I thought for a while what to put here about me. :) What do you wanna know? I am just a simple guy working in an IT Company handling Operations and Project Management. I'm also going through a torturous 16 months "express" double degree course at Kaplan APMI - Murdoch University. In this blog, you will basically find alot of nonsense from me.

I like to complain and yes I complain alot but for things that are not right. If you know me well enough then you will know that I always complain for a reason :D otherwise I am just like any quiet guy next door starring at the laptop screen.

This blog details my daily experiences as well as my training for my runs. I have taken an interest in running since last year and I am working towards completing a Marathon this year... //9km run
Yesterday I did a run of about 9km. I had planned to do a 10km run but I guess I was just too exhausted to carry on. The actual plan was to do my long distance run (10km to 17km) on Mondays and the rest of 5kms on Thursday and Saturdays, but I was too exhausted on Monday and had to stay alittle bit late after school to discuss with my class mates on an assignment, so by the time I reached home I was too exhausted to go out again.

The pain on my knee doesn't seems to improve after 4 days of rest. I'm not too sure if I'm gonna execute my 5km run tomorrow as planned. There was a little bit of pain at the knee when I started my run yesterday. I tried to run slow but somehow it didnt help. It was only after I finished the first 5km of the run where I don't really feel the pain anymore. I then continued with the rest of the run.

One hilarious thing that happened yesterday was a girl was shouting at her top of her lungs. I at first thought she was on the phone somehow and was engaged in a fight with the BF or something but she wasn't. She just kept shouting some sentences in chinese that I can't really make up of. I then had this thought if she's actually scolding me cos I just ran passed her and that might scared the hell out of her or what... but she was still shouting and shouting even after I run passed the traffic junction. Anyway I hope she's not cursing at me. I'm sorry if I had frighten you... but I don't think so lah... wahaha

Anyway its back to assignments again. Have been spending my time to write a research essay and I seems to be taking a very long time to execute it. Maybe because the last time I did composition was in secondary school... and thus I'm having difficulty doing it now.. but well.. still Lan Lan Suck Thumb have to get it done at all costs as friday is the due date of the assignments.

After submitting it, I have plans to go Sitex 2007. My sickening home router is down... and I'm running out of storage space...and I'm thinking of getting the HTC Touch Phone.. OMG $$$$ again. Anyway that's all for now. Still have a few long answer questions to complete for the assignment. Will blog soon!

//Abit of pain at the Knee area
Oops Its been a week since I last posted. Last week I was practically busy trying to clear all my work before I go on a 3 week leave starting from TODAY. YES TODAY IS THE DAY! But... the leave is meant for me to complete all my outstanding assignments (3 due this week) and to prepare for my examination papers on the 10th, 12th and 14th of December.

I'm having a little pain at the knee... the joint area. Its not a very painful thing but just a slight discomfort. I'm not sure if its because I didnt do enough stretching (I always do 6 to 7 stretching exercises) before I run or is it because of the distance that I'm going... I have already stopped at 17km.. and will not attempt till my knee is well again. So far last week on Monday I had my personal best of 1hr 13mins for a 10km run and the two subsequent runs on Thursday and Saturdays were 35mins:21:90 and 36mins:55:48. Both timing are still better then my previous runs but I'm considering to take it slightly slower now since I have an aching knee. I still want to run for life and thus I don't wish to let anything happen to my knees.

I'm also planning to go get a proper running shoe but am considering all the brands now. Asics seems to be a very popular brand... so is Adidas Adizero... and at the same time I'm also considering NIKE... because of the NIKE+ function. I think its cool that I can track my running distance and etc with it.. but I will need an IPOD Nano to achieve that of course... currently I'm running with my 80GB IPOD that was given to me from my friends on my birthday... so If I were to get the NIKE+ shoe, I must also buy a IPOD Nano and the device $$$$$$.

I have managed to find the Gatorade Thirst Quencher in Powder form and is now drinking it everyday to replenish the loss fluids. My goal is to run AHM next year.. the very first time I will be running.. (yes yes I know army got AHM but I never run because I'm always excused from running and have to either do Duty Clerk or just stay home). I also hope to lose abit more weight. Currently I'm quite happy that I'd managed to shed a few KGs.. but it will only work If i start eating RIGHT as well. I'm trying my best to learn what I have to eat daily.. how much to consume what and etc... but its abit tedious. With the loads of stuffs to do.. I duno if I can really find time.. but I'm staying away from all the unhealthy stuffs. Lunch is like subway or mee fen soup... or maybe zai mee fen with alot alot alot of vegs and one "meat".

It has also been raining alot nowadays and its hindering my progress to run. I think I have to come up with some wet weather programmes to do other things at home instead.

//Loads of Assignment
Yesterday and today was practically spent clearing my work stuffs.. I have alot of work.. and at the same time I have alot of assignments.. but I'm always unable to clear my work. Each time I do something something new will come and I have to spend time looking at the new thing and not work on the old thing as the newer thing is much more "urgent". Its every client's same way of telling us to complete their work first.. "its urgent can you get it done by today?" "its urgent its either u do it or we die..." that kinda thing.. and I'm really pretty sick of it already. Work is like crazy and so is school work and I have 3 assignments due NEXT WEEK which I have yet to start on...

The 3 school assignments are due back to back.. with each assignment having loads and loads of work. First is 208.... Commercial Computing.. there's like 4 parts to it.. and each part is like essay writing of at least 1500 words. The last time I wrote an essay was in Secondary 4 and that was for my freaking O levels. Then next is 209 Data Structures and Abstractions and its all about Programming in C++... firstly lab time wasn't conducted... and we missed out on doing alot of stuffs.. and then there were no examples on the implementation.. its like "HUH??? How to do this and that".. that kinda scenario... and then there was 231 System Analysis and Design.. have to work on alot of diagrams and reports... and there's like 10 parts to it.. all to be done within one week.. its really 天啊!

Yeah back to what I have been doing today. I had spent most of my time working some data migrations and then I had to go out to attend a colleague's twin babies full month celebration. Afterwhich, we decided to pop by my boss's house to see his two dogs Snoopy and Rascal.. both as horny as ever.. humping our legs non stop..but one thing though...they seems to recognised us didnt really dare to bark or bite us.

I went for a run after coming home.. was a 5km run at about 36mins.. Was feeling sleepy prior to the run and almost thought of not going.. but I tell myself that I have to be determined.. I have done so much to see some results for the past few months.. I gotta hang in there to achieve that health and fitness level! I'm now also thinking of going gym.. my BMT instructors told me to join them for their gyming at Punggol Marina Country Club at 200 plus for half a year.. and then my dear bestie Jason told me he wants to join Fitness First at 113 a month.. I'm still trying to decide between the two..... both also $$$ but the first one save more money but at a ulu place.. so haiz must think hard after the exams... then my uncle also wanna paint my room for me... ask me to choose the colors and etc.. and I'm thinking of doing a make over of my existing room.. but that will mean alot of time spent on clearing up and cleaning up.. so yeah gotta do it after da exams if I want to.

Right now, I'm still wet, sweaty and sticky while writing this blog.. after finishing the next few sentences.. I will go and bath.... drink a cup of milk and work on some revisions to understand the subjects better before I go and do my assignments!!

//5km Best Effort Run
Today I woke up quite early.. but had to go buy lunch and etc for my mum before going work.. so yeah ended up reaching work around 1pm. Before that I'd went to NTUC Fair Price to buy a bottle of Gatorade to drink.. cos today I'm planning a run at night so have to follow the rules.. make sure I hydrate myself well..

Work was alright.. trying to clear as much as I can before I go for my off and leave for exams... then celebrated PC and Nelson's birthday before calling it a day to go home. Didnt really eat lunch today. Breakfast was vegetarian mee fen and lunch I had some fruits... and dinner i bought turkey breast subway.

I then went for a run today.. starting was ok.. then i pushed abit to run abit faster after I'm comfortable with the pace. Maybe because I'd sufficient rest after my 17km run on Monday.. i was able to run abit faster.. and thus I pushed myself abit more today and considered it as a best effort run. I completed my 5km distance at 33mins as compared to the normal timing of 37mins... but I didnt stop la.. i went for a shorter 1.8km run around Tampines Mart area as a cooling down run before calling it off a day.

Went back home and I carried abit of weights as well... doing the same bicep exercises and was talking to one of my ex platoon sergeant who asked me to train with him and another of my sgt if I'm interested at the gym.. so yeah 200 plus for a 6 months membership sounds reasonable to me.. the only thing though.. is that the place is at punggol.. abit ulu la.. anyway will be giving it a thought... I need to go do my work plus assignments now after finishing this blog.. no time liao!

//I'm so not a BUFFET eater
Just had my lunch... mee fen soup... and bought some sandwiches for school later.. and oh Yeah thats the topic right.. I'm so not a BUFFET eater. I went out yesterday to shop with my cousin and help him choose some clothes for his D & D and also bought a few tops for myself as well including a black cardigan.. which is like $25 bucks nia!! then after that I'd wanted to eat something healthy.. so I suggested to go eat steamboat @ Bugis lor.. then there was this new shop.. looks quite nice so we'd decided to give it a try.

Food wasnt that bad.. Soup was pretty nice.. we had the mala and chicken soup combination... but one thing about that place though.. the staff recommended us to sit in the airconditioned area (which at that point of time I was hot and sweating from all the shopping @ Bugis Street) so I said ok.. and yeah to my surprise.. the eating location is in the basement and to get the food you have to climb the stairs to level 1 to get it.. and with the amount of jogging on Monday.. its abit tiring for me to climb the stairs up and down.. but then for the sake of eating.. i will!

Anyway I realised that I'm not really a BUFFET eater.. Like second round I'm already like full but my cousin just kept eating.. and a recollection of what I'd eaten last nite was like some dumplings, mushrooms, vegetables, cabbage, jin zhen gu, some slices of mutton, beef and pork... and that's about all... and I was like full when my cousin just kept going... and maybe I should have listened to his advice.. he said to me before we decide on where to eat.. "u sure u wanna eat buffet? Ur stomach so small... eat one or two piece.. sure cannot liao.. waste money only".. and damn its so true!

Rushed home after that from the eating by taking a cab.. but sadly no cabs.. or rather no available cabs.. all either ON CALL, HIRED and BUSY.. and one sickening taxi driver's cab message was actually TAXI and then when he saw me waving.. it switched to BUSY. Eventually I had to spend some money to call for a cab. I'd wanted to rush home because I got two tutorials to do for school and I have yet start on any and its supposed to be handed in today.. so yeah.. took a cab and luckily it was a nice ride home.. tok to the uncle about the new implementation of cab rules and etc...

After that It was all the stuffs about tutorial... dozing off and waking up this morning to rush the tutorials before doing work... and later I'm going school.. Today I have no plans of running though. Monday was pretty shagged so I will need 2 x Rest Days. I will most probably carry some weights for tonight and will pop by Cold Storage before school to find the drink mixer that they were talking about in the SGRunners forum.

Welcome to my blog! My very first post... Hmmm I guess you must be thinking... starting a blog only at this age.. abit off isnt it? Well, I did created a few blogs previously.. with ahterry.blogspot.com as one of them.. but I'd deleted that blog.. due to some personal reasons.

Anyway! I'm back again to show you my superb blogging skills (like real!!). I'm creating this blog to blog about my work... my school work.. and most importantly my runs (cant believe it right? PES E cannot chiong sua but can run :P). I still remembered during the NYE 2007.. I'd told a friend (Gevelle) that my new year resolution is to lose weight. February came and I'm still eating.. and then Mar.. May.. June... and it was till like July when I saw the registration for SCSM 2007 (Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon)... that I started running.. and to make my friends and colleagues join the 10km run with me (although we'd never sign up till now.. long story though.. will talk about it another time)...

I started with a 2.4km run at the park.. lousy timing of 18mins.. and after running a few times.. i decided to run my normal road run... and it started with 3.2km in 22mins (was an achievement already cos last time i did the same route at 31mins) and then I tell myself to slowly advance abit more.. and bit by bit.. I'd completed 4km... and was almost dead by then.. then the next run was 4.5km.. and till I surpisingly completed my first 10km in 1hr 40mins... It was quite an achievement and that motivated me to run even more and then i clocked my 2nd 10km.. and 11km and then 15km... I then googled and stumbled upon a forum call sgrunners.com. Created a topic that I was a beginner and was seeking some professional training advice from them... and the people there were really friendly. They had encouraged me and gave the appropriate advise on the runs... and it became an inspirational thing as I read about their member's blogs and interviews on their running journey.. and that inspired me to do up a blog too... to blog about my life and my runs... and to eventually set a new year resolution for 2008.. and that is...

TO COMPLETE THE 21KM AHM IN 2008!

I'd actually just came back from a run.... I did a run of about 17km in 2hours and 16mins today... and I'm shock of the distance because I thought its my usual 5km run * 3 rounds.. but the actual measurement is about 17km... I started slow during my first round.. completed my first 5km in about 39mins when my usual timing for 5km runs is about 37mins.. but I completed my 10km run in about 1hr and 26mins which is an improvement from my last timing of 1hr and 40mins... but the last round was really a tiring one. My throat started getting dry.. and thirsty.. I'm not sweating and some posts on the forum mentioned that this is a sign of dehydration. I'd really wanted a drink... was tempted to stop at several 7-11s I'd passed by along the run but told myself to hang in there till I reach the 7-11 nearer to home... reached the 7-11 finally and was totally worn out. Luckily I'd some intuition today to bring along some money with me... and I'd used that money to get my sports drink... and then had a slow walk home... ahh and that felt good. =)

I'm off now to doing my tutorial. Am supposed to submit 2 tutorials for marking on Wednesday and I have yet to start on any.. so will work on it today and tomorrow. Tomorrow night I will be out at bugis to do some simple shopping.. ever since I'd started running.. I'd lost some weight.. even my friend Aiping who met me a few weeks back saw me today and commented that I'd slim down! and yeah I will continue to work hard and shed more weight! subways and runs! here i come! ciao!
